Traditional Music
There is no shortage of Traditional Irish musicians on Achill. Children are taught the skills of a variety of 'Irish instruments' from a young age. The result is that many adults have reached a very high standard of proficiency.
There is no better atmosphere than that of an Irish pub, when the music is in full swing. Visitors are constantly amazed as they listen to fiddles, flutes, Uilean pipes, tin whistles, banjoes, bodhrans, accordians, concertinas etc.
- all blending together to produce a sound that is unique to Ireland. Listen also, to the singers as they tell you of the life of Ireland - of long ago and of more recent times.
Watch as many the nimble footed dancer (and some many years young) dance jigs, reels, hornpipes, slides etc.
Throughout the season, most pubs have a "Sessiun" nearly every night and best of all almost every one is free. Come in and have a few glasses of the 'Black Stuff' or whatever's your fancy and enjoy a night that you'll never forget!
